Shreddingly funky. Contrarian. Electrifying.
Whiff is an eccentric funk rock band from Eindhoven led by Dries van Elten. Expect driving grooves with slap bass and fuzzy guitars, walking a fine line between tears and playfulness. Thanks to this unorthodox blend, the band is known for energetic live shows where their mix of styles is perfect for participatory jumping.
You might have seen them already at places such as:
- AFAS Live, Amsterdam (Khruangbin aftershow)
- Effenaar, Eindhoven (2 sold-out release shows)
- Breda Barst
- MgE (Young Gun Silver Fox aftershow)
- Mezz, Breda
- Groene Engel, Oss (support for Prince-bassist Ida Nielsen)
- Volt, Sittard
- Hit The City Festival
- Solar Festival
Following a sold-out release show in the Effenaar, Whiff is now touring with their new album Someday: a raw and honest record that pays tribute to the analog studio spirit of the ’70s, centered around the search for a sense of home.
Prepare yourself for sweaty backs and unexpected tears.
Of joy.
For fans of The Black Keys / Vulfpeck / RHCP.

ORIGIN
Dries van Elten first started playing in school bands at the age of 12, both as a frontman and in a more musically supportive role. At the age of 17, after gathering an abundance of inspiration from his father’s record collection, he decided to lay down the first chords of what would end up becoming Mojo Vibes, his first album. To bring the album to life on stage, Dries brought together the musicians who would later become Whiff.
The chemistry between Dries and his live band, both on and off stage, inspired them to join forces for a new album. United under the name Whiff & The Wet Socks, they resided in an old monastery for 3 weeks to record the album Sugar Rush.
Building on the success of Sugar Rush, the band is excited to take things a step further. Continuing their path together as Whiff they recorded Someday, an album that showcases their growth and provides music that’s both dynamic and deeply heartfelt.
